I can not remember what I did last week, but I will always remember what I was doing when I heard the news. I am on the girls golf team in my little town of Piper, KS and we were playing in a tournament. I was on the 2nd whole when someone said planes had crashed into the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon. At the time I had no idea what kind of situation we were in or the impact it would cause on our country. It was not until I returned to the clubhouse and saw the news that I realized what was actually going on. September 11, 2001 is a day that I will remember forever and someday will tell my children about.

i had just got out of bed and my mom had told me that a plane had hit the WTC. I could not belive what i had seen. Out of no where the second plane had hit. watching this i said to my slef who would do such a thing? I later went to school and herd about the pentagon and the plane in P.A. I watched in horror and shock as the WTC fell to the ground. I could not belive the number of the people who died that day. My dad was at work, we had just talked the night befor about me taking EMT classes. My dad is a fireman and talking to him that afternoon about all the emergentcy workers who lost their lives that day made me want to just sit and cry. i pulled my self togther and just kept going on with life like the President said to.i will never foget were i was on 9/11/01 it has forever changed my life and America.I pray for those who lost loved ones.

When I found out about the attacks on the World Trade center I was walking down the English hallway of our school. An aquaintence of mine was running down the hallway saying "A plane just flew into the WTC and into the pentagon. I imeadeatly went downstairs to the computer lab to find my teacher and tell him. When I was in the lab I saw two of my friends and told them what was going on. They believed me about the WTC but didnt believe that the Pentagon had also been hit. They convinced me that I was wrong saying "They are in two totaly different areas" sure my aquaintence could have been wrong, but I wanted to for myself, so I Turned to the internet. That's whent i saw the terror that was happening. I immeadeatly found my National HOnor Society instructor and we organized a pop can drive that raised over $5,000 for the Red Cross. The plans were made by 10:30 on 9/11 and that Saturday our drive proved to be a success.

My plans for September 11th were to wake up at about 9am (8am EST) and get ready to go and eat lunch with my best friend because it was her birthday...she was going to be 17. Instead I woke up when the phone rang and my other friend was freaking out on the other end yelling at me to turn on my tv because we had been attacked. I thought it was some sick joke and told him to slow down and tell me again. He told me to just put on my tv and I did. As soon as I turned on the tv the second plane hit the second tower of the WTC. I honestly thought it was some preview for a new movie. Then they kept replaying it over and over again. I was in shock and me nor my friend on the phone could speak, we just watched in silence and heard each other gasp on the phone. He told me that he had to get back to work and hung up with me. I sat down and watched in horrow the events unfold on tv when I saw that the Pentagon and another plane was attacked. I thought about my family and friends wondering if it was over. We live so close to the refineries in Houston that if anything went wrong there we would all die instantly. I called my other best friend that was supposed to eat lunch with me and my best friend and told him to just stay home. During those first few morning hours I could only think the worst. I thought about all the people and my heart went out to them. I can only imagine how they feel. After about a couple of hours I called my friend and told her happy birthday. She couldn't say anything...I was surprised I could.

I was in the car, listening to a CD when my friend called me to say that a plane had struck one of the WTC buildings. I've never been to New York but whenever you saw pictures on TV or in magazines, they were there, towering above the New York skyline. I watched on the news as they showed the moment the second plane hit over and over again but somehow my brain just couldn't process the images. It is the most horrific thing I have experienced in my lifetime. Even here in Scotland, thousands of miles away from New York, people have been affected by what happened that day. It just didn't seem real, it was like it was a movie or something. Even now when I see it on TV, it's still a shock. My heart goes out to all the families all over the World who were affected by the events that day.
