I was asleep when it happened. I am on the West Coast so it was still rather early here. I woke to my alarm (which is actually the radio) and heard them say “two planes have crashed”. With that I jumped out of bed thinking “oh my god, Sarah flew in last night”. I ran to the TV and turned it on only to realize that the World Trade Center had been hit. I heard them say that the Pentagon had also been reported as hit as well. I ran to wake my roommate and told her “Wake up, America is under attack.” We both sat in the living room staring at the horrible images on TV. I had to go to work so I called my roommate from my cell phone so she could keep me up-to-date on what was happening while I still listened on the radio as well. When I got to work my boss and I arrived to work at the same time. All she said was “How do you feel?” I answered “Terrified”. We then sat down in her office and continued to listen to the radio reports. Obviously nobody got any work done that day. We just sat there in total shock and discussed our feelings. Oddly enough a co-worker and I had been discussing “Band of Brothers” the day prior (9/10/01) and he said “What if someone attacked us here? I’d want to be protected.” I told him “that won’t happen. Nobody is stupid enough to attack America.” Well, I ate my words that day when I realized it had actually happened.

I was at work on the morning of September 11th 2001. One of my co workers had CNN on the TV, and he came running into my depatment saying the WTC has been Crashed into by a jet. We all gathered around the television to see what was going on, when right then the second plane hit Tower 2. We were all frantic, and we all running around trying to leave to go and get our children from school. I called the school and they told me that they weren't letting the parents come and get the children due to the mad rush that they would have. So, I went home to get my daughter off of the bus at 12 noon and spent the rest of my day watching the TV and being with my children. To this day everytime that I hear the song that they dedicated to 9/11 it makes me cry. "I WAS THERE" sung to the music of Silent Night. My family is now more Patriotic than ever. We listen to songs that remind us of that horrible day, and remember the lives that were lost. I pray that we will never have to go through anything like this again. And, I also pray that we will find the Bastard that did this to our Nation, our Families, and our thousands of Friends lost that day.

I was sleeping. I remember hearing my dad slam the door as he came back from work. I just thought he had forgotten his lunch or keys or something like that. Little did I know he heard the news on the radio and turned around to see the live telecasts on TV. I was drifting in and out of sleep but I remember hearing my Mom, Dad, and grandma talking animatedly. I was hearing words like “Newark Airport” and “Los Angeles” and “crash” and “Twin Towers”. It wasn’t until my phone rang at around 8:50 that I found out what was happening. My boyfriend was on the line and he kept on asking me if I knew what had happened and he kept on saying “oh my God”. I put on the TV and began clicking around through the channels. I couldn’t believe a plane had crashed into the Twin Towers. I got out of bed and joined the millions and millions of people around the world watching the events unfold that morning on TV.

I had just found out on Sept. 1 that I was pregnant with my second child. I was already an emotional wreck when the attacks occured. I was at the elementary school where I was working at the time when our gym teacher entered the computer lab and told us the news. I thought a pilot had maybe had a heart attack or something. Then, I found out about the other attacks, and I started crying. I wanted so badly to get my husband and my little boy and hold them and tell them how precious they were to me. For the next week, I was glued to the t.v and when I was in my car I had it on the radio. It's such a tragedy, but it made me realize how precious and fragile life is. God bless all of the victims and their loved ones!! God Bless the USA!

I was in college, just waking up to get ready for my first class. The first thing I do is turn on the tv and on that day, in every channel, were news about terrorist attacks in New York City.

The school was so different that morning; everyone was quiet, classes have been cancelled and in my residence hall, students were glued to the tv, watching, waiting for good news about family and/or friends.

My friend told me that you can see what was happening across the Hudson River from on top of our parking deck. So he and I went; there were other students there too. And we saw smoke obliterating all of lower Manhattan, not the usual magnificent view of the two towers.

I was so concerned for the well-being of others (I was a Resident Assistant at that time) - I saw the concern of my residents and fellow students on their faces - I forgot that my Dad's birthday is that day also.

My cell phone was no use, because I couldn't get through and they advised everyone to limit the use of their cell phones because people at Ground Zero may be trying to use their cell phones to call for help.

But I myself needed reassurance and so I tried calling; when I got through w/ my call w/ my Dad, all I could think of was to ask if everyone (in my family) was ok...I completely forgot to wish him a happy birthday...
