I was attending College at USM. Just startng into the school season. I was doing laundry I forgot my detergent so I went back to my dorm room to get it. While I was up there my mom left a message on the answering machine. She was crying and saying turn on the T.V. something terrible has happened to America. So, I turned it on. As soon as the picture came up I saw the second plane crash into the building. I didn't know what to think. I thought maybe it was an accident, maybe it was a dream then I cried and just couldn't believe what was happening.

On September 11, 2001 I was attending School of Discovery in Selma, Alabama. That day started off as usual.
On the radio I had heard that President Bush was in Florida (It had something to do with education). I got ready for school and left home. Once I got to school, roll and morning procedures were done like all other school days.
I asked my homeroom if I could check out books from the library. When I got to the library horror was already on the news. A commercial aircraft had deliberately rammed into a tower in New York City the building was in gulped in flames. I was very confused,I had never even heard of the World Trade Centers.
That day was the same day that I started sixth grade enrichment. Our class gathered the t.v was already on. Soon after we started watching a second
plane smashed into the second tower. This was like nothing I had ever seen not even in movies but, it was still as if I was watching an action packed movie. Now both buildings were flaming. Then suddenly I saw with my own eyes the first attacked tower collapse, just give way like air destroys a card pyramid. Then unbelievibily the last tower collasped leaving us breathless.

I was a freshman in college. As I walked back to my dorm room from my 9:00 English class, I kept hearing snippets of conversation: "The Twin Towers fell…hijacked airplanes…hit the Pentagon…" Naively, I assumed that the conversation was centered around a debate or project in another class. Walking up the stairs to my room, I came across my roommate, who just said, "Oh my God, you haven't heard." (By this point, it was already 11:00 a.m., and I was "behind the times"). She switched on our television, and every station (we have over 100) was tuned in to coverage of the attacks. Our dorm room was in a central location, and within 15 minutes, we had over 30 people in our room, some whom we had never met, watching CNN intently. They kept showing the images of the planes crashing into the Towers, then the devastating collapse. The most horrifying image, however, was not of the buildings; it was watching the people of New York run for their lives as buildings crashed around them. People who had never met before that day held hands, held one another as those with family and friends in NYC tried to comprehend what had happened and broke down in tears with frustration that the phone lines were tied up (they stayed tied up for days). At 1:00, the Dean called a special Mass on campus- Catholics, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Muslims…it didn't seem to matter what religion anyone was. All that mattered was what had happened to our country only a few hours before. What was supposed to be an act of terrorism to tear this country apart ended up bringing people closer together than ever before. Many of us (myself included) lost family or friends on that day, but they will never be forgotten

I remember exactly where I was when the first plane hit the WTC. I was in my car on my way to work. I cross a mountain every day on my way to work and I was exactly on the very top of the mountain when it was mentioned on the radio that the WTC had been hit. I never will forget what I felt at that moment. At first I thought we had just lost another airliner to a mysterious crash like so many airliners in the past. But something felt different. Before I knew all the details, something just seemed different. I got to work and then heard about the second plane. That is when I realized this was unlike anything else I have ever experienced. We were under attack. It was a strange eerie feeling at work. I work for an Internet Provider and we have to keep our part of the Internet running 24/7. We kept doing our jobs, but we knew that we had an even greater responsibility now. To keep vigilant and defend our country as well. When I got home from work that day, I noticed things were really really quiet. And it was very scarey not seeing any planes in the skies. I don't think I slept that night, wondering what would happen next. I also felt a lot of anger that someone would terrorize the USA that way. I still feel that anger towards the terrorists. They are responsible for this. I am glad that a lot of Americans feel anger towards these terrorists that commited such an evil act. And I am also glad that there are Americans that are willing to stand up and defend this country. We have a good start on the war on terrorism but it is far from over. I hope people don't forget that. I also hope they don't forget our service men and women in the armed forces that are defending our right to freedom. It's definitely good to be an American and to feel proud of our freedoms and to stand up and fight for them.

I was in a training class in Birmingham, AL for a new job. There were 15 of us in that class. We broke for morning break when one of my training mates received an e-mail from a friend of his about the attack. We all started calling people we knew and asking what they'd heard, since we didn't have a radio or TV at the time. We were all dumbfounded....shocked. Then, about 20mins later we got access to a TV and that's when I saw the footage. It was worse than anything I had imagined! I saw people jumping out of these enormous buildings, because they were burning, and then, the first tower collapsed. I just started crying. I couldn't believe any human being could be so heartless and cruel!!! How could anyone hate a nation so bad that they would want to destroy thousands of innocent people for no reason!
My heart goes out to those involved in the disaster, the victims, and the families & friends of the victims.
