I learned of the attacks early in the day, as they were happening. I was already at work and someone ran in and said a plane just crashed through one of the World Trade Centers. They had a television on downstairs and I ran down there to see what was happening. What a mess, I watched as another plane struck the towers, then soon after both fell. How bad could this be?!
Being a fire fighter, I immediately though of all of the rescue workers and whether or not any had been trapped. There must have been people in there, which of coarse, we learned later that there were.
For the days following, I could any feel sorrow, grief, sadness, and anger at what had happened. The people, the rescuers.... I put my name on a list to assist if needed in the city. We're about an hour from New York and many of the guys signed up. We would have done anything to help. We later helped Ladder 3, which was lost, with donations from the firehouse. Ladder 3 in particular because we have one as well. We were never called to help, but all of knew we could be and would have done whatever was needed.
I hope to visit the city again soon and maybe get down to southern Manhattan to see pictures and maybe see part of the site..... My thoughts go out to everyone who was involved and to those who have the ultimate sacrifice to save others.....

At the time of the attacks on our country, I was in class at Stonington High School. Just a typical day, sitting in Oceanology class when another teacher came in the room and announced, 'the world trade center has just been hit with a plane!'. Turns out, the second tower had already been hit by the time we got the television turned on in the classroom. News reporters continuously interviewed random bystanders and people were in tears all around. At that time I had realized that this very moment in time, war was declared on this country. Then not too long after, the same teacher came in to tell us that the Pentagon had been hit, and that a plane might've been heading for the White House. We were all in a panic. The first song to pop in my head at the moment was that infamous tune, 'the end of the world as we know it'. After watching the after effects of this occurence until the end of class, we moved on into the hall to switch classes and conversations of what had just happened flooded the corridors. Kids were going home crying, everyone was in a panic. No one knew quite sure how to handle the news. How would this change the world we live in? How badly will we be effected in the time to come? Questions unanswered, no plausible conclusion. All we had known was that this land of freedom was now at war with a country most of us in high school had never heard of. And why? We may never know. And from that day forward, our lives were changed in ways we couldn't have imagined.

I was going to work on September 11, we were on our way to work at a womans house, on the way we stopped for coffee, they had the television on in this little coffee shop. on the tv, there was a picture of a building on fire, The channel was CNN, under the picture, it said, "small plane crashes into World Trade Center" I thought at first it was a clip from a movie, or something wierd, It took me a minute to comprehend what I was seeing and this was the real thing, so we got our coffee, and were planning on watching the tv to see what was going on when we got to where we were working, on the way we had the radio on, the next thing we heard was that another plane had hit the second tower, and then the next thing we heard was that the pentagon was hit, this was all within a matter of minutes, all i could remember being in the truck was having a real sinking feeling, and that I wanted to go home to my kids, I was real scared, and Im a 36 year old man, I will never forget where i was that day, or the type of day it was , or anything that happened on that day, my heart goes out to all the people who were affected by this horrible act.

to H Ilbrahim....Please, this is a website that is dedicated to the memory of those who perished on 9/11. Please have the decency to voice your political views somewhere else. Better yet, why not go back to your country and fight for your beliefs, and let try to heal any way we can. HOW DARE YOU!!

Well, there's another "peace loving" Muslim spewing the very same nonsense that brought forth these evil attacks. You A-rabs talk a real good game, but now I've got a challenge for you, Ibrahim of Egypt. Come to the United States and stand at Ground Zero and say those words.
Not only are you supporting the zealous, murderous pigs who attacked my country, but you are a coward to boot. You're nice and safe with your fellow terrorists over there in Muslim-land. Come to MY country - the great United States of America - and say this, you disgusting terrorist coward. I think there are a lot of New Yorkers who would really LOVE to hear what you have to say - and to give you a proper New York response of their own.
To my fellow Americans, this SWINE is what we are up against. They are not sorry about what happened to us. You needn't take anyone's word for it...you have Ibrahim here. This particular piece of scum can't wait until we get attacked again simply because we are allies with Israel! Remember that if you remember nothing else, my friends..
Stand strong, be proud and thankful every day that we are Americans. We will be victorious over those who attacked us. I constantly thank God in Heaven that I am an American. My friends, never forget September 11th.
And finally, Ibrahim, two things -
First - what have you Egyptians done for the Palestinians? Oh yes, that's right. You wouldn't take them into your country. Your government knows they are a bunch of malcontents and troublemakers so they won't take them in either.
Second, my fine Muslim friend, we'll see who's left standing when the war is over... you terrorist-supporting piece of trash!
God have mercy on the souls of our murdered countrymen. God Bless the U.S.A. and her Allies! Long live Israel! Down with the terrorists!
