I was in my 2nd period class (I was a freshman in high school) and I remember my principle coming over the PA system telling us that a plane hit the WTC. I sat there thinking... why is she interupting our class for THAT? I admit I didn't know much about the WTC and that's why I remember thinking that. Then the 3rd period bell rang and I walked past a classroom that had the local news on showing footage. I walked past and then went back by the room. I almost had to sit down. I couldn't believe it! I nearly ran to my next class and that's all we did that period was watch the news footage. I, along with millions of other people, witnessed the 2nd plane go into the 2nd WTC. I remember students crying, calling thier parents on their cell phones because thier relatives or parents had flights that day. It was an unbelieveableday and no one will ever forget that. I wish we could all be as political as we were on that day, every day!

On that Tuesday morning, I was sleeping in because I didn't have class until 3:30pm. At around 10am I just heard someone down the hall in my door hall scream "ohh my god!!" At first I thought that it was someone just acting silly..but regardless something about it made me get up and go out into the hallway. My friends had their doors open and I walked into one of the rooms. Still dazed and confused from just waking up, I looked at the TV and I seriously didn't realize what was going on. Everyone was just dead silent and some people were crying. Then my best friend came over to me and said "they rammed a plane into the towers" I couldn't believe it. Nobody went to class that day. We all sat around talking and comforting each other. I had called my parents crying b/c after all of the chaos..all I wanted was to be with them. Plus, my brother is a police officer and that day has made me appreciate what he does even more. I'll never forget september 11 and the way everyone else and I felt. My heart goes out to the victims and the families and they are always in my prayers and have my love and admiration for being strong.

On 9-11-01 I was in my truck on my way to make a freight pick-up in Michigan City, In. I had a friend riding with me. At the first news report came over the radio, I woke him up from the sleeper. We were in shock. our first thoughts were of our families and friends in Chicago. We were extremely worried. (Thank God for cell phones.)

Our next thoughts were self-centered. My friend, Albert, was on his first trip in the truck with me. we both thought that Chicago would be the next target. We felt that God had put him and I in the truck that day to save us from tragedy. All we could do was pray. That was the most quiet ride ever. we were glued to both radios(stereo and c.b.).

I prayed more that day than i have ever prayed in my life.

Did I mention that Albert is a street gang member? It proves that all of America came together that day!!

I was in my senior year of high school. 2nd hour, I went into the classroom, which was Foods. One of the guys in my class announced that earlier a plane hit the World Trade Center. I thought that he was joking. Several other people confirmed it. They were in the classrooms at the time of this, while I was outside marching w/ the band, and this came as a total shocker. During the whole day at school, the TV was on the entire time, and everyone stayed glued to it. It was a lot to handle- disbelief, shock, anger, so much was going through everyone's heads, that we didn't know what to think. We wondered, even though we were far away from where the terrorists seemed to be targeting, we wondered where are they going to hit next, would they hit a small town such as ours. For the whole week and awhile after, we talked of it, still in disbelief. This is something I will tell my children about when I have them and when they are old enough to understand- to let them know the fear and everything that came with this. I prayer to God that nothing ever happens like this again, that no ones senior year of high school is so marked by such an event as this...

On this morning I was going on with my normal routine, I brought my girls out to their bus when the driver told me that a plane had just crashed into the WTC, I kissed my girls goodbye, ran into the house to turn on the news when the other plane hit. I remember saying to myself those bastards (excuse me) this is no accident. I just wanted to go get my children and hold them for myself and for the children that no longer have a parent to hold them. I cried for everyones loss for days. My heart goes out to all you who lost loved ones. A family member lost alot of friends/associates there and I felt her pain as she told me. I will never forget you! God Bless You all!
