The day of the horrible attacks, I was at school. People were talking about it but I thought nothing of it at the time. When the bell rang for 1st period we all went in the gym to get ready for athletics. I walked in and there on the T.V. were the Twin Towers. Now I knew that the situation was seriuos. We all sat down and watched in disgust and horror at the footage.
When the tower collasped I was in absolute shock. I never thought that this great symbol of Freedom, and this great symbol of what America is and stands for would ever collapse. It was like we were all watching a movie, it was so unbelieveable.
When the bell rang for passing period me and my friends started to talk about what had happened. We started to ask who in the world would or could have done this to us? What did we do to anyone to make them so mad that they crash a plane in to the WTC and kill thousands of innocent people?
I am very sorry for all the lives that were taken on that day. No one EVER deserves to have to go through a horrible thing like that. I hope that the terrirists are caught. I hope that this horrible people get what is coming to them. Yeah that is mean but the killed innocent people for no reason.
God Bless America!!

It was about 7 a.m., and I was jogging on a trail in the woods, trying to get a good radio station on my walkman, since I live at high altitude in a remote area. A weatherman started to give his spiel when all of a sudden he stopped and said "I am getting this from the wire....", and he began to talk about what was happening. I was about three miles from home, desperate to get back and turn on CNN. The fastest three miles I have ever run. I got home and saw the towers, still standing... Called my mom, who sleeps late, and simply said, "Turn on the TV". Same scenario when I called her about Princess Diana, so she knew it wasn't going to be good. I couldn't believe how it brought my little community together. Instantaneously, flags went up, strangers talked as if they were best friends, and shops closed so that everyone could go to the local bar (which had CNN and was open at 9 a.m.) to watch.

It all started early in the morning when I heard on the news that a plane had crashed into the WTC. I had to get ready for school, so I didn't think much more of it. Later, on my way to school, I asked my mom if the towers could fall. Before she could answer, my know-it-all older brother told me it couldn't, it was probably just a little plane and that it would take a lot more than that to make the WTC collapse. He is usually correct, so I put the thought into the back of my mind.
Later, in my first period, a TV was set up. We all sat down and began to watch the footage. The instant I saw the screen, I knew that it was very serious. We all sat there in awe and disgust, watching a significant piece of America collapse. As the towers fell, girls in my class burst into tears. I was beyond crying. I was in shock. After that class my friends and I discussed who could possibly have done it and why they could possibly bare to do it.
It was the worst thing I have ever and will ever see in my life. I hope that all the people who had anything to do with this is righfully punished. They had no right to destroy those towers and kill those innocent people. Just imagine. Those people jumping out of the building to avoid an inferno. Imagine the fire-fighters, policemen, and rescue workers dieng to save others. They did not care if the people they rescued were white, black, Christian, or Muslim. They saved who they could. This shows how America is a truely great place. I love America. Everyone should love America. They definately should not try to kill America. America cannot and will not roll over and play dead. It may take a long time, but America will prevail.

I was still at home trying to get myself dressed for work, help my 8 year old daughter get ready for school and dress my 4 year old son for daycare when I learned about the attack. My husband had heard the radio accounts of the attacks as he drove to his office. He used his cell phone to call home - to tell me to turn on the TV. It was about 7:35am in Albuquerque, NM - 9:35am east coast. Immediately, I turned on CNN and watched in horror, crying and praying on my knees. My children joined me. They were frightened to see me - their Mom - so distraught. We held hands and prayed. We asked God to hold up the buildings and allow as many people as possible to get out. We watched and watched. The buildings held. Then, one collapsed. We prayed harder for the second one. Eventually, it collapsed. I cried. I thought of how my parents must have felt when Pearl Harbor was bombed. I called my manager and told him I wouldn't be in. His son lives in NYC close to the WTC. His son had called to say he was ok. I took my daughter to school where her teacher, a NY native, was coping with helping the children understand. This woman, the teacher, hadn't heard from all of her NY relatives, yet. (Eventually, we learned that her relatives were ok.) My son and I went grocery shopping, stocking up on items, preparing as we did for Y2K. At the stores, we met NY natives worried about their loved ones. Everywhere we went, there was a personal connection to NYC or the pentagon. Later that day, I told my children to look up into the sky and to see that there were no planes. I don't think there'd ever been a day when I hadn't seen or heard planes. We were at war. We did hear jets later that day and were relieved to learn that they were our NM Air National Guard's F-16s.
