I was sitting in class when another teacher busted in telling us about the first plane, we were all like damn thats really weird.Then we went on break after that thats when the second plane hits.I went to my car so i could listen to the radio, and decided to just go home to watch it on tv, since there was noway i was going to beable to concentrate on school after that.

I woke up that morning and had a Chem class at 8. I hit snooze on my clock and decided to skip it for one day. My roommate did the same. She got up within the half hour and went into the lounge to watch tv. A few minutes later she comes running back into the room. "Someone flew a plane into the world trade center!" she exclaimed. After that moment I was awake. UNC canceled classes for the rest of the day and then revoked it but I had already missed all my classes that day. I sat in shock infront of CNN and tried to think about what awful reprocussions this could have on how americans treat anyone of arab decent. My boyfriend, 3rd generation american like me, is, unlike me, arab by blood. I got really scared for his life/safety. Retaliation is good...hate is not.

ON SEPTEMBER 11TH I WAS AT WORK IN BURLINGTON NORTH CAROLINA. WHEN I HEARD THE BAD NEWS ALL I COULD THINK ABOUT WAS MY LITTLE GIRL WHO WAS BORN A YEAR AGO TODAY. I SAID WHAT A WAY TO SPEND HER FIRST BIRTHDAY I TOLD MY HUSBAND. I SAID SHE WILL NEVER FORGET THIS DAY AS LONG AS SHE IS LIVING. IT IS VERY HAD TO LOOK BACK ON THAT DAY. BUT ALEAST I STILL HAVE A GOOD MEMORY OF THAT DAY MY SWEET LITTLE DAUGHTER HAYLEIGH.

My name is Steve and my home is in Cleveland OH. I am in the National Guard here, and I remember unpacking from a weekend-long drill on 10 September. When I realized what was happening, I was at my office, and I had such a knot in my stomach, I thought I was going to throw up. After 0930 all work plans went out the window and I called my unit asking if I had to get in there; they said no at that time. We closed up for the day at 1100, but they closed down the interstate that led from our office to my home; it took me an hour to get home. I threw everything I just unpacked, everything that is green and says US Army on it, back into my duffel bags and ruck sack and waited for the call. Then I just watched CNN all day, and hugged my girlfriend (now my wife -- life is too short to let love go) all day. Strangely, I also played fetch with my golden retriever that afternoon, she was bouncing along and chasing tennis balls like it was any other day. My unit is now activated for Noble Eagle, and I wish to dedicate my efforts this deployment to the man and woman I saw hold hands as they jumped off the WTC. God bless you both, and it is an honor to serve our country in this capacity at a dark time in our history

I was in my Spanish II class in my high school when a kid ran into our class that a plane had hit the world trade center and the Pentagon. My heart sunk into my stomach. I couldn't speak and I looked at my classmates and they couldn't speak either; looking at each other with great disbelief. We watched the news for the rest of class and then I went to Algebra. We also watched the news as we explained to the other children what happened. I began to cry with anger and fear. I saw both towers collapse live on TV and I was shaking. Being a Catholic school, we had a memorial service/mass for the victims and to calm fears. That helped a lot. I will never forget that day for as long as I live.
