I woke up around 9:00 a.m. on 9-11. I turned on the stereo in my bedroom and heard the end of a newscast, "As we're speaking, a plane has crashed into a WTC Tower!!"
I ran downstairs, turned on the TV and just stood there. I couldn't believe what I was seeing!
I ended up watching the news all day long in utter amazement as the second plane crashed into the other tower. Then the other events, the Pentagon, the crash in Pennsylvania, etc.
Living so close to WPAFB here in Dayton scared me.
I'm a disabled/retired Dayton Fire Department Paramedic and my exhusband (a DFD Firefighter) just retired in July after having a massive heart attack on the job.

I was in my home ec class when my teacher turned to us with tears in her eyes and said "They bombed the twin towers" at that moment everything changed forever, in bad ways and some good. Though no one I knew closely was harmed in the Sept. 11 attacks I still found it hard to deal with and there have been days where I feel like I can't go on, but then I look at my flag with nothing but pride and love and think america survived and so will I

I will never forget the events of September 11th. Altough I was not immediatly affected, my heart was. I work at a TV station and was watching the events unfold. At first I thought it was a terrible accident, but I was watching live when the second plane hit. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I think I cried more that day than I ever have before. My family are all in law enforcement, as well as my boyfriend. I have such respect for the firemen and policemen who ran to help. Everyone that died that day are heros. I will never forget...and although I have turned my attenion to the men and women now fighting this war overseas...my heart still goes out to all the family and friends of the victims of September 11, 2001. We will never forget. *SRP

I was in Spanish class at KSU, normal day. At the beginning of class, someone came in and said, "some planes have hit the WTC and the Pentagon" Even though she did say the Pentagon, which is where my aunt works, I didn't think much of it, thinking only cesnas or some small plane. We went on with class until 12. Then we got out and it was all over campus... people were talking on their cell phones crying, people were saying that classes were cancelled. That had me worried. Classes hadn't been cancelled at KSU since May 4, 1970, or so I had heard. So I started running back to my dorm, shaken by the thought that maybe my aunt wasn't okay after all. I reached the dorm, and everybody was out in the hall. My roommate told me my mom had just called, and that my aunt was fine. But I was still shaking, about to cry. Then, for the next few days, all I watched was the news.
September 11, 2001 was terrible indeed. We should take our feelings of horror as we saw our innocent civilians suffer, however, when we do the same to others. It does not only affect the USA.

I was in my English class, doing a timeline of my life. When we heard of the attacks, the tv was turned on. Some people were treating it lightly, but others, including me, were shocked. I will never forget my teacher, standing there, with her face in her hands, shaking her head with disbelief. And, suddenly, I was more scared than I had been in a long time.
