When I first heard of the attack, I had just walkd into my front room with my girlfriend of 1 week.
We were both shocked to see the images on the TV screen. I really did think it was a film.
Only when the Sky News Anchor man appeared, and verbally confirmed what we were seeing, did it hit home. Immediatley, we both had to sit down. My head was trying to sort the emotions I was feeling towards the victims of the tradegy. We honeslty were in shock.
Then, when the first tower collapsed, I could not come to terms with it.
My girlfriend and I watched the tribute to the WTC earlier on today on BBC2.
We just want to say, our thoughts and feelings to the people who's loved ones perished in the attack. And to all the service men and women who helped find the survivors. Our love to you all. James and Helen.

I had just bought and brought home my playstation 2, I was playing on it in the living room for ages, unaware of what was happening! Then my girlfreind phoned me from her work and told me to switch on the tv...I could not belive my eyes I remember asking her questions like How long has this been going on, how did you find out? Just stupid shock questions. The playstation was the first thing on my mind now it was far far the last! I watched the tv all day and night in amazment of this terrible event. Once I got of the phone to my girlfreind I called my Dad to tell him, he already new and was watching it aswell, Me and my girlfreind keeped intouch all day asking each other if the other new any more! Today 12months on to the day I feel touched by the two nations united grief and support for one another, I also feel very angry at those responable, very very angry and unforgiving.

I can remember the day as if it was yesterday. I was at work and one of my collegues broke the news to us, he had been reading the days news on the internet. At first I didn't believe him, I really couldn't believe what he was saying. Then we put the TV on and it was showing what was happening in the US live on the programme. No-one could believe what they were seeing it was truley unbelievable. I rang my boyfriend to see if he heard the terrible news he couldn't beleive it. All day I kept in touch with him it is times like this that make grateful of what you have got. At the time I was overcome with the days events I could not take into acount the shear amount of distruction that had happened in New York City. A year later my thoughts are with the familys and friends of those who were injured and those who lost their lives. I hope that America can prevail over evil and terrorism.

I am English. On Sep 11 I was out in my garden - it was a nice day - I was actually up a ladder trimming a hedge! Suddenly a passer by said - go inside and switch on your Tv - all hell has broken loose - something terrible has happened.
I did just that and I could not believe what I was seeing on the screen. It was so unreal - like a movie. It took some time for it to sink in - I felt sick to my stomach. As it unfolded we were dumbstruck - all those poor people.
No one I knew was far from their TV for hours even days. The streets were very quiet. People spoke in hushed voices. Many were very angry.
How can anyone do this thing in the name of any religion? They were not martys who earned a place in heaven, they were and still are evil men.

I remember I was at work when a customer came into the store and told me that a plane had flown into the world trade centre, I thought it was a joke or a mistake, but when a second customer said the same thing I went to the staff canteen and put on the news, I was watching the live report as the second plane hit, it's a moment thet I'll never forget... friends of mine were on holidey in New York at the time!
I ran to my locker, grabbed my phone and called my girlfriend, who is a student studying history with particular emphasis on 20th century USA. I told her what had happened and made her keep watching to tell me more...
Many people here in the UK were crushed by the death of Princess Diana, but to me the selfish waste of so many innocent lives to further one persons agenda sickens me to the stomach whenever I think about it!
I'm not a religious person, but when I went to bed on september 11th I stopped to say a prayer for all those invloved, and I'm not ashamed to say that I shed a few tears as well!
