That day in the morning everything seemed a little bit different from the morning I had woken up until the end of the day. There was a sense of silence.
I went to school and was a little quiter than usual but it seemed like that was the case. I heard the bell ring and I daddled off to my first class of the day, Science. I was only in 7th grade and was cluess about everything around me. I was grown up pretty protected from the rest of my country.
I soon found out from my science teacher what happened. I didn't understand. I was completly confused. I just thought it was an accident. Until they said something about two planes and I knew something was up. At this point of time I hand't even know what the World Trade Center was or the Pentagon. I was suprised and austruck. It took me most of the day to figure this out. We had an early dismissal that day. So I went home and most of the problems had complete cover on every channel.
All I have to say is that I hope America grows from the tears that have been shed, the lives that have been taken, and the hatred we have all lived in. We need to come together and fight this.
GOD BLESS AMERICA

I was at school when i first heard about the attacks. I can remember as if it were yesterday, walking into the bathroom 3rd period, and hearing a stretched story of the attack. I had heard that the World Trade Center had been bombed, and i didn't believe a word of it. As the day went by, i saw many of my fellow schoolmates getting picked up by their parents, and didn't notice the significant amount of them missing until lunch. About half of them were still there. Although I knew something was wrong, i still didn't know the details, and didn't hear the whole story until 7th period. Some administrator had come into my classroom and broke the news.
"The World Trade Centers have been hit" that's when i stopped listening, and that's all i cared about, until i heard the next few devestating words. "The Pentegon was hit also." That's when i shivered, knowing, since I live only 30 minutes from Washington DC, that someone i knew would be hurt, emotional, physically, whatever. i still remember how silent those halls were after 7th period.
I know a girl who's birthday was September 11th. Her father worked at the Pentegon, and i still don't know if he's alright.
When i went home, i saw the replays of the planes flying into the buildings, the explosions, and the falling of the towers. It didn't hit me until the sunday after that at a church youth group, that lots of people had died. It just took me a long time to process what these people had done to our country. But now, after a whole year after the events, i realize that it's not only a negative thing, but that's what brought the US closer together. People will eventually get over the losses, and we can't do anything to stop the past. What happened, happened, and our country was able to move on after that, and grow stronger and smarter.

i was in the middle of what my school calls snack. my friends mom walked in and was crying. my friend went up to her mom n asked her what was wrong. then my friend came back. at first we said is your mom okay and she just yeah...so then we got it out of her that the towers and pentagon were hit. we all started freaking. it was only about 6 of us who knew. the rest of the cafeteria were happy people smiling and laughing as we sat in silence. a few people came over and asked what was wrong. we only told about 2 of the people who asked. they joined us in grieving. then i thought my dads in sweden, hes going to be stuck there for a long time. and my stepsister lives in ny. then i started to cry..next thing we knew the revron, head, and all the other important ppl of our school got up and rang the bell in the cafeteria and let us all know what happened. it was the worst day of my life, and im sure many others.

I was at home that beeping noise came on the T.V. My mom said "Oh great. What now?". After i had heard about the first plane my mom rushed me out the door to stand at my bus stop or i was going to be late. As i was standing at the bus stop i was thinking that they were playing a joke on us. When I got to school everybody was like "Did you here bout the twin towers??" and so on and i was like "Ya, I'm sure it was a mistake!" I am gifted as in smart and my gifted class is called kites.
When i was at kites we went into another teachers classroom to watch and that was when I saw the 2nd plane hit. I was like "Oh, my god." I just couldn't believe it. then i heard about the tower falling and then we saw then 2nd tower fall live. I just started crying and so did almost everybody else. I will never forget where I was and what I was doing at that time. Never, ever, ever. I can't believe it has been one year already. i feel so sorry for all of you that had loved ones in one of those planes or in one of those towers.
GOD BLESS US ALL

I came o school on September 11th it was like any other day. My classmates and I were standing in line waiting to hear the morning announcements. Then my friend leaned over to my with tears in her eyes. She told me what had happened. Horrified and scared, I told her" I didn't even know, I was sleeping though people dying." I started too got teary-eyed, just because of that one thought. People were dying while I slept peacefully. We walked into our classroom and it was so quiet that you could have heard a pin drop. We just sat there, in our desks, to stunned to speak. Then we got the announcement over the loudspeaker that we were evacuating the school. Ten or twenty minuets later, parents showed up crying. My mom took me and my friend Janine home to my house because Janine’s mom was working at the hospital and she had to stay for a while. When we arrived at my house, I saw my dad sitting on the couch. It was the only time I have ever seen him with tears streaming down his checks. He was sent home from his work that day just as we were from school. Me, my mom, my dad, my sister and Janine, watched the TV. With horrer. We were glued to the set for hours. WE only got up to get tissue to dry our tears. I went to bed that night to worried, and too scared to sleep. I couldn't help but think...
