I was at work and listening on the radio when the first plane struck. I quickly ran into our kitchen along with several coworkers and were glued to the television set. When the first building came down I cried for all the people that I knew were trapped both inside and outside. Everday since then I have said a prayer for all the victims families and friends. Most of all I say a prayer for our wonderful President that he will make all the correct decisions that needs to be made.

I am a veteran of the United States Navy. I LOVE AMERICA and everything that it stands for. God Bless...

I was at the Adam's Mark hotel in Dallas, TX, for a training class. If I wasn't there, I would have been at Ground Zero, at the World Financial Center in NYC.

My most vivid memory is running up to my hotel room to try to use the phone there, because my cell phone couldn't get through to loved ones. I got into the room, and the housekeeper was in there. I turned on the TV, and was watching, and as I was dialing the second tower came down, live. I dropped the phone and slumped on the bed.

All the while, the housekeeper was just doing her business. I realized she spoke no English. I know some Spanish, so I brought her to the television, and we watched in awe and silence at what was going on in my city.

My brother and I were in Ireland, trouing in a town called Kilkenny, just finished with a tour of the amazing castle there, and shipped some souvenirs back to the states for our friends and family. We were tossing back and forth whether or not to stay in Kilkenny another night, or to mozy on down to Blarney. At 2:05 PM Ireland time, we hopped in the rental car to drive to Blarney, and the first thing we heard was "a plane has crashed into one of the twin towers in New York". My brother and I just looked at one another, and kept driving. About 3 minutes down the road, the announcer comes back on stating that a second plane hit the World Trade Center, and that several more planes were considered hijacked. At this point, bro and I decided to pull off the motorway, and find a place to watch CNN. We stopped at the closest town, in the closest pub, and walked in just in time to see the first replay of the second plane hitting the twin towers. We sat in this pub for over 3 hours, crying with the Irish owners and regulars of this tiny pub- in complete disbelief of what was unfolding. As a sidenote, the Irish are wonderful, welcoming people- they didn't just have a 'day of mourning' or a 'moment of silence'- on September 14th, the entire Republic of Ireland closed down for the day. All petrol stations, pubs, stores, etc. closed down for the whole day- there were multiple masses and church sessions held all day long- I never once felt like my brother and I were alone in the tragedy, even being overseas.

September 11th, 2001, the day the World Trade Center was attacked.

Where was I and what was I doing? I was in bed trying to sleep while my cell phone was ringing over and over and over again. Finally I answered it to the voice of a friend telling me the World Trade Center was gone. My reply, "yeah ok buddy, no really what do you want?” He told me to get out of bed and turn the TV, which I reluctantly did. The images displayed before me took a couple of minutes to register. At first I thought I was watching some Bruce Willis movie or something but then I saw the CNN logos and tickers and it hit me like a blast of fire.

The insurmountable loss of innocent lives and the sight of the World Trade Center burning and smoking before my eyes left me in a distant perplexed state. As I watched the news I was so disappointed in human beings as a life form. Why is it so difficult for everyone to just enjoy how great it is to be alive and to respect everyone else’s views, religions, opinions, cultures and lifestyles?

I was asleep. My mom called to tell me what happened, mostly because I have friends in Pittsburg and they said one of the planes went down near there. This was very early in the event and we didn't know exactly what was going on. I spent the rest of the day in front of the TV with my neighbors.
