I was getting ready for school when our neighbor called saying the World Trade Center was attacked. At first I did not understand. When I turned on CNN i was horrified. When the towers fell it felt like a dream abad dream. At school we wached the news all day.

God bless America!!!

On Tuesday, September 11, 2001 I was waking up for school just like any other regular day when all of a sudden my mom turns on the television and tells me that we are being attacked! I don’t know what’s happening, since I am still am halfway asleep, and I panic. I don’t know what is happening until I look at the T.V. and see that the first tower of the WTC was crashed by a plane. At first I only thought it was an accident, until I see another plane all of a sudden crash into the second tower, then I know that we were being attacked, for real! I then hear that the Pentagon was also struck and I had no idea what to do, but go to school, even though I knew it wasn’t going to be the same ever again! Even though I still go to school, we watch the news and stay informed about what is going on, and pray to God for help and to keep everything together and not let anything get anymore out of control. Life will never be the same, because WE WILL NEVER FORGET!

I was driving to work when I heard on the radio that the first WTC tower had been hit by a plane. I turned to my local news station, where there was more reports & theories. Suddenly, the reports came in that a second plane had hit the second tower! My sister was supposed to leave for NYC that morning to visit friends & relatives.

I immediately called my mom (who's also a travel agent) & made some comment that my sister wouldn't be flying today, when I heard on the radio the tower had fallen. "Oh my G-d!" I said to my mom. "The Twin Tower just fell!" My mom's news station must have been delayed because my mom didn't believe me.
"What are you talking about? They're still standing!" I told my mom what I heard when suddenly I heard my mom scream herself the same words I just expressed 30 seconds before. We both said nothing for about the next 20 seconds while I listened to my radio & my mom watched the TV.

I went into work, where everyone was glued to the TV, radio, websites...whatever media we could get...I work in a building where I'm isolated from the outside world when working. My husband was calling me on my cell phon every 15-20 minutes to see how I was doing (I'm originally from NYC), my family, & my relatives in NYC itself.

People say they never forget where they were when Neil Armstrong landed on the moon or Kennedy was shot...I believe this event will surpass either of the previous events...there's more media coverage, more sensationalism, & more devestation.

On September 11th I was living in Phoenix. My Fiancé and I had decided to take the day off from work. He was suppose to got to school later that day. We didn't have the TV on that morning. Around 7:30 or 8 our friend Jerri came pounded on our door. We almost didn't answer because we wanted to spend the day alone. We ended up answering the door, she had a look of shock on her face and asked if we had heard what happened. We kind of looked at her weird and said "no, why?" She said, "The twin towers in NYC have been attacked!" So of course we turned on the TV. My first thought was my ex's family. My ex's whole family lived in NY, and I had remembered them saying his uncle worked in the WTC. So I jumped up and called his family. Thankfully he hadn't made it to work yet. (Thank god). At that time we hadn't heard from anyone else though. We hung up the phone when the President came on TV. Later in the day they called to say everyone was just fine. For the next week or so all we did was watch TV to see what was going on. We couldn't believe what had happened. All we kept saying was it was like out of a movie. It didn't seem real. We couldn't believe someone could do such a thing. Everywhere you went it was there, someone had a TV on, or the radio. There was no getting away from it. After a while we couldn't handle it. We had to get out of the house, take our minds off of it. The whole thing made you think, it made you call people that you kept telling yourself you'd call but never did. It made you remember all the good things about people, and reminded you to cherish them. My mom and I hadn't been talking before that, but we talked that day. I was so scared, I was worried it was just the start of something bigger, since they had also hit the pentagon. I am glad that it nothing else has happended since that day.

I think that people shouldn't forget the people from the Pentagon, they need to be remembered also. A lot of these sites remember the WTC victims, which they should, but we also need to remember the Pentagon people and the people from that plane that crashed in the field. Nobody that was taken on September 11th should ever be forgotten.

On the day of September 11th, I was eating breakfast on my bed when all of this bad news came down. It is just so hard to comprehend that I was sitting there enjoying my food without knowing that thousands of innocent civilians were being killed at the World Trade Center. After that, I still did not know about it for I was getting ready for school. It wasnt until I got in my car to drive to school that I realized what has happened. I turned on my favorite morning talk radio (Mark and Brian in the morning), and they had an unusually suttle voice, when they usually are cracking jokes about random things. I immediately knew then that something was wrong. I continued listening and eventually found out what had happened. I was terrified... I had to pull over to listen and try to process what exactly happened. When I got to school, every teacher had their TV on CNN. I didn't know HOW bad it was until I saw the video on the TV. To me this felt very surreal, and confusing... which is probably what everyone else was going through.
I wish I could have been there, to help the innocent... but no, I was sitting down eating my breakfast, not knowing what has happened. After that day I felt terrified to go outside for the next few weeks. Those people that died went to the WTC just like if it was an average day at work. What if that happened to us?? We don't expect anything like that. What if???

I am sorry for all of the families who lost a loved one during this tragic event, I wish I could help more, but I can't, and for that, I am sorry.
