My name is Mags and I live in Canada. I woke up and turned on the tv and that's when I saw the second plane hit the second tower. There was no volume because I always turn it down the night before. I thought wow what great effects it looks so real. I wanted to know what movie this was so I turned it up. And that's when the people on tv were saying that they couldn't belive what was happening and then I clued in.
THIS WAS REAL! OH MY GOD HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE IN THAT BUILDING?
Then they went on to say the the first building was hit as well.
OH MY GOD ALL THOSE PEOLPLE!! GET OUT OF THE BUILDINGS!! JUST GO!! DON'T LOOK BACK, JUST GET OUT!!
Then the first building fell.
ALL THOSE PEOPLE UNDER ALL THAT!! THEY WILL NEVER GET TO THEM. PEOPLE GET OUT OF THE SECOND BUILDING!! RUN!!RUN!!RUN!!
Then the second building fell.
SO MUCH DUST!! THEY WILL NEVER GET TO ALL OF THESE PEOPLE ON TIME!! ALL THOSE INNOCENT PEOPLE DEAD!!
Then I heard that another plane went down at the Pentagon.
OH NO! NOT MORE LIVES! THE U.S.A. IS UNDER ATTACK SOMEONE WANTS WAR. WHO COULD DO SUCH A HORRIBLE THING? WHY WOULD THEY DO SUCH A HORRIBLE THING?
Then I heard that another plane went down in a field.
WHAT WENT WRONG? I'M SURE THAT THAT PLANE WAS SUPPOSE TO HIT SOME BUILDING THAT MEANT A LOT TO U.S.A. THE WHITE HOUSE!! I BET IT WAS SUPPOSE TO HIT THE WHITE HOUSE!! THANK GOD IT DIDN'T MAKE IT!! BUT ALL THOSE PEOPLE GONE!! THE CHILDREN WHO HAVE TO WORRY WHETHER OR NOT MOMMY OF DADDY IS ALIVE. THE WIVES/HUSBANDS THAT HAVE TO WORRY WHETHER OT NOT THIER HUSBANDS/WIVES ARE DEAD. OH GOD PLEASE HELP THEM GET THIER ON TIME!! PLEASE GOD NOT TOO MANY PEOPLE DEAD!! PLEASE!! THAT'S TOO MANY PEOPLE!!
And then an estimated count was in over 5000 people missing.
GOD HELP THEM TO GET THE PEOPLE WHO PLANNED THIS AND GIVE THEM THE SAME RESPECT THAT THEY GAVE ALL THOSE PEOPLE WHO DIED......KILL THEM....KILL THEM ALL.................

I'm normally up early in the morning to look after the hundreds of emails I get a day. After sunrise seeing that it was a beautiful day. Clear blue skies, pleasantly warm, I decided that I would check the local weather, to see how the day was going to be. It was around 9:00 am. To my surprise when I turned on the TV, I saw the first tower with smoke coming from the top of it, and heard the newsperson say that a plane had crashed into the building. I sat down stunned, while the camera was focussed on the building, I saw another plane approaching the towers, the plane seemed a little low. At first I thought he would pull up, but no that did not happen. The second plane hit the second tower.
What was happening? Are the pilots sleeping? This was unbelievable. I checked to see if this was a news real or just a movie. It was real. Sitting there wondering how and why this could happen, the second tower collapsed, then later the first collapsed. Knowing that in those buildings a lot of people worked, a sick cold feeling came over me. then later another news real from the pentagon stating that a plane had crashed into it, made me realise that there was a war gong on. My day was ruined. Sitting there still stunned with tears in my eyes, I noticed that it was ging onto noon. And a reporter stating that a forth plane was missing.
Around this time a friend called from his workplace, and was listeng to the radio on his lunch time and could not believe that it was real. Hardly being able to talk, I tried to explain, what had transpired over the morning, that it was real and that I had watched this horrifying event on tv. Finally be sucummed with tears, and not able to talk properly, I told him I have to go, and hung up the phone. Later that afternoon, the realization of the fourth plane crashing had been announced. This was really too much. I was parrallised with fear, today was not a day to go anywhere. These events affected me over the next two months.
You see, I have cousins who are computer experts, and travel the world, and are involved greatly with world trade. How was I to call my Aunt and ask if she knew their wareabouts. Since then we heard from one, the other we will not here from until New Years. My biggest fear was, were they at the World Trade Centre, or possibly a passenger on one of the planes. I was always afraid of airplanes, now I'm terrified of them. At that time I was debating whether or not to go to Hawihi, now that is put off indeffinately.
I know how the families of those that were lost in these tragadies feel, and will never be able to forget, the loss, the anger, the fear, the hate that results from such an expirence. And nothing that anyone can say, will ever be able to change it.
America learned that day how to stand together, hope that will always remain.
God bless America, and take away the pain.

Climb Higher
A tribute to the New York City Firefighters by Langley, BC Fire Chief Jim McGregor:
“Keep on climbing,” says the Captain,
“Up through the smoke and the smell;”
“Keep on climbing,” says the Captain,
“I think I heard somebody yell!”
“Keep on climbing,” says the Captain,
“Alive or dead, not ours to tell.”
“Keep on climbing,” says the Captain,
“Forget about your pain!”
“Keep on climbing,” shouts the Captain,
“We have a few more floors to gain,
“Keep on climbing,” yells the Captain,
“We will bring them down again!”
“Keep on climbing,” cries the Captain,
“If I can so can you!”
“Keep on climbing,” orders the Captain,
“Right now I need the best from you!”
“Keep on climbing,” screams the Captain,
“Forget about those sounds!”
“It’s just some girders twisting
And some concrete falling down;”
“Keep on climbing,” whispers the Captain;
“Climb right up to that light!”
“Right up to that sunshine,
“No smoke to smell,
“No fire to fight!”
“Keep on climbing,” sings the Captain,
“That angel’s hand will lead the way!”
…“rest boys,” sighs the Captain,
…“you did your job, today.”
“Keep on climbing,” prays our Captain;
“Eyes raised, headed for the top.”
“And when you’re tired and feel like quitting,
Remember them,
They didn’t stop!”

When the first plane hit i was actually sleeping in bed after hearing something(of course my hearing is not so good when waking up) on the radio about the world trade centre having been crashed into. I immeditely turned on my television set to cnn to my utter horror i sat there and sat there...and just stared for severla minutes until i saw another jet slam into the second trade centre building. The at that i was shocked to even think about the consequences for the person or persons responsible.

September 11th was a tragic day for the U.S. and for the world. We are still feeling its after-effects even in Canada. It has changed the way we, on our "island" (North America), view our freedom and our security. We are no longer immune to the threats of terrorism. Perhaps we are a bit smarter and a bit less naive, but the innocence has been lost, which is the truly sad consequence to these attacks.
The atmosphere at work the day of the attacks was very glum. We tuned in to the TV in the boardroom and watched as we tried to comprehend what had been done, who had done it, and why someone would want to do such a terrible thing.
The true test will not be our initial reaction, but how we handle things now and into the future. Will we succumb to the hatred, or will we try to understand the reasons someone could do this and, perhaps, grow in our understanding of ourselves and of humanity.
