Like a lot of people, I was at work. A collegue of mine had asked me to look at his computer because he thought the internet was down. I asked what website he was having trouble with and he said all the newsmedia ones. We kept trying until we finally got through to one and found out what happened. We sat in dumbfounded silence as we read reports and viewed video on what was going on. I had trouble believing all the information I was receiving from other staff, the radio and the internet. It wasn't until I got home later that evening to watch the day's news summary that reality set in.

The phone rang at 6:30 a.m. It was my daughter calling from Minneapolis. Her message just said, "Mom, I know you are still sleeping but you won't believe what's happening!". She had been watching Good Morning America when the planes hit. I got out of bed, picked up the phone and turned on the T.V. 'Oh, my God" was all I could keep repeating.

With the American political systems terroristic foreign policy, I had always expected this would happen some day. But it was still shocking when it did.
To the citizens of New York, I grieve with you and for you. To the U.S. Plutaric politicians, I hope you really take a long hard look at your own involvment in backing terroists regimes before more citizens are hurt. I fear for America. God Bless and keep you all.

I had been asleep for about 3 hours (having burnt the midnight oil) when my wife woke me and told me about the first plane crash into the WTC. I immediately remembered that I had heard a B-25 had crashed into the Empire State Building in fog many years ago and assumed the same thing had just happened again. I was far too tired to get up and rolled back to sleep. When my wife came back just a few minutes later and told me that she had just seen, live on TV, a second plane crash into the other tower, I knew this was no accident and, lack of sleep notwithstanding, I was now fully awake and spent the morning watching the news unfold in abject horror.

I had just arrived at work and we were gathering for our morning office meeting; it was around 8:30 Central. One of our student workers came in and said, "The US is being bombed!" and at first we laughed because the idea was so absurd that we didn't believe it. But he was persistent. So we tried to find out online, but CNN, CBC, etc, were all swamped. I finally was able to get into a site with an article and picture. I was horrified. We immediately checked on the little tv in our office, and ended up being glued to the tv for the rest of the day. As a Canadian, I felt sick. I just kept thinking, "oh, all those people!"

I work for a Christian college, and we have a significant number of American students. So the college president called a school-wide prayer time, and provided counselling for any students who needed it. They also provided phone lines for any students who needed to call home. The air was solemn and heavy for the whole day, as people gathered around the public televisions to watch the happenings. We went through all the feelings of shock, horror, and fear. It was surreal, watching the towers come down. It seemed like a movie, not real life. Then I would think, "oh, but it's real, and all those people!" We cried and prayed, and I was so sad for days. We worried about how the US would retaliate, and Canada's role in that. Nothing is quite the same since, and my perspectives on world events have shifted significantly.

Even two months later, I feel sick to see the footage.

May God have mercy on us, and may we all turn to Him for comfort and guidance.

I was in class when it happened, biol 364, or cell physiologly to be exact. My cell phjone was on but set on silent and i could see my that my friend was calling me. I thought it was weird that he would call me this early in the morning but ignored the call. After class i called to hear what he wanted. Thats when he hit me with the news. I told a friend nearby what was happening but she thought nothing of it...its just an accident, she said. Meanwhile, I was on the hunt for a tv. Finally, on the 11th floor, on a small black and white screen, i saw for the first time what was happening. That's when the first tower fell. Then minutes later, the second one fell..
