I was home in my little area of Detroit Lakes in Becker county,MN. In the middle of our United States where not much happens and when it does it really makes me wonder "Why". No one deserves to die like that and no one has the right to do any thing so dastardly to any one!! Know the people were all meant to die at that time and that God works in many ways. That is probably why there were so few people on those air planes. If im right none of them were even half full!! But it was still such a horrible thing to do plus hard to lose family or friends. But in my mind wether friend or foe no one deserved it!! But it was a quick death for most of them. Not all but i only hope God was with them and that they did not suffer, But so useless and senseless it makes a normal mind wonder what they thought they gained. If they were mad at Bush or whom ever why hurt the man next door.
Also know the ex president had problems with same country does not mean you should take it out on innocent people who didnt even know Bush or any one connected to the white house. Almost like Johnny telling his friend Joe " My dad can beat up your dad". Only this was not a childs game. It was more like the end of the world to many families. But God will prevail. Just watch!! Maybe not in our time but some ones!! Please God take over and protect innocent parents plus their children.

I was in Manhattan, at the northern end of Central Park. I'd turned on the TV in my hotel room to catch a weather forecast, since I was due to visit a customer at 90 William Street - three blocks from the WTC - at 11, and wanted to know whether I'd need an umbrella.
After seeing that it would be a nice, pretty day, I left the TV on. I was watching when they broke into the Today Show to report a fire at the WTC. I stayed glued to the TV as they showed the second airplane crashing into the other tower, and the fires raging, and people jumping out of windows, and the towers collapsing, and the resulting images are forever graven into my mind.
Early on, I dialed up with my laptop. I wasn't one of the folks besieging Slashdot, but I did stay on IRC for hours, talking about what I saw. That turned out to be my only reliable communications channel. My cellphone was completely useless. I got more than a few phone calls from anxious relatives that I couldn't return because the lines were jammed. I finally asked a friend to call my parents in Houston and let them know I was fine and several miles away.
This past July 4 weekend (2002), a friend and I visited Mount Rushmore. At the end of the day, we went to one of the Western dinner theater places out there. Most of the way through the show, they sang a song, "Where Were You When the World Changed?", about that day. I wound up having to leave in tears, as it brought back memories of that day, and how I couldn't get in touch with anyone except over the net. I don't know who wrote it (I asked, but have since forgotten the name - it was some country star), but he did a great job of capturing the feeling for the rest of us.

I was on vacation in Sedona, Arizona and on the way to the Grand Canyon with my husband and my parents from Germany who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. I was showering when my husband who was watching TV said that a plane just hit the world trade center. I thought he was talking about a movie and when I saw the pictures on TV I still thought it was a movie, until it sank in - partly because the news person was so shaken and did not know what to say. They are always the ones so calm talking about war every day, but that day even they did not know what to do. I went to my parent's room and told them. They were so calm, it almost drove me crazy - but they went through WW 2 where they were bombed out every night and went through horrors they do not talk about. I also think that it really did not sink in until they went home to Germany and had people come up and hug them, glad that they are alive, because all they knew was that my parents were in America, but they did not know where.
We decided to continue our vacation and headed to the Grand Canyon. We stopped listening on the radio after a while and just chose to be glad we have this time together. One never knows what the next day will bring.

Where was I? Well, I remember it like it was yesterday. We were in grand Forks, ND. My father in law had to go there for a biobsy on his lungs. We had walked into the hospital lobby at exactly 8:49 a.m. and we looked on the screen on the lobby T.V. and there it was. The first tower. It was hit. I couldn't believe what i was seeing. Everyone that was in that lobby just stood there in silence and disbelief. I wondered of my daughter was watching this at school. I wished that I was with her. I grabbed my husband hand and looked at him. He never broke his gaze at the T.V. The world did indeed stop turning that very moment. That same day, my father in law was told that he had only six months to live cause the cancer was too far advanced.
My life changed from that moment on and I was very glad that my father (a Vietnam Vet) was not alive to see what was taking place that day and the many days after. I also remember is there was a guy next to me in the lobby (he was Austrailian) and he said "This does not happen in America!"
I just looked at him and said "knowone ever thought it would, but we were wrong". Grand Forks was in a panic after that because there is a mjor Army base there. The malls all shut down, the Army Base closed to anyone coming in and out unless they were Army personal and the Airport shut down completely. We heard they were not letting any airplanes in Grand Forks air space. I was neglectful to the fact that since I lived in the United States, that nothing would ever happen, that I would always be safe (as well as my kids). From that day forward, I haven't felt safe since.

I remember September 11th like it was yesterday. I was sitting in my high school first period psychology class listening to a lecture. One of the social studies teachers (who spent his prep hour watching TV)came in and told us that a plane crashed into the WTC. At first everyone thought he was joking. When we turned on the TV and we were all in shock. Ten minutes later, I saw the second plane crash on TV. No one could say anything. We all thought this was too much like a movie because it was so unbelievable. During most of the school day, our eyes were glued to the TV. School was really quiet that day. I saw people cry in the halls. Many people were angry and the crashes were the only thing people talked about. Everyone was confused, sad and everyone prayed.
