I was sleeping when my grandmother woke me up around 7:30am yelling something like, "Oh my gosh, they bombed New York!" The first picture in my head was of fighter planes dropping bombs on New York City, but I joined her in the living room to watch the news and saw the pictures of something just as horrible.
The first image I saw on the screen was extremely shocking. And when I listened to what the news anchor was saying, I was paralyzed. Just from speaking to people from other countries on the internet, I knew America had enemies, but I never thought there were people out there who DESPISED America so much as to commit such murder. I was glued to the television all-day and everyday for the next few weeks. My life has been forever changed since Sept. 11th. I am so well aware of the world... of people... and everything that is going on around me more than ever. My whole perspective on life is now in wide screen view.
I regret those tiresome mornings at school when I would barely mumble the The Pledge of Allegiance. September 11th showed me the importance of having pride in your country and the significance of not taking the freedoms you have for granted. If the Pledge of Allegiance is ever recited in a place I happen to be, I'll be sure to belt it out.

I was at school when I heard the news,the shock was very intense. The first thing I did was think of my baby she was 3 at the time. I was glued to the TV for months. I know that I will never truly know the pain of the people that lost someone on 9/11, but it has touched my life. I send prayers and thoughts to all the family members who lost someone.

I am a Brit that spends as much time as possible visiting the USA. I was at work in the UK when the terrible news came over the radio. I found it devastating to watch and my heart went out to all my friends in the USA. Two weeks after the event I again visiting the USA and was touched by the patriotism and loyalty that we encountered.

I live in the UK and flew back from vacation in Europe on the morning of September 11th. I had just walked into my house and switched on the TV when the horrific pictures from New York came onto the screen. The scenes were live and I cried as I watched the second plane hit and one by one the towers collapsed. I can never imagine the pain that the people of America went through and still go through today but please be assured that my thoughts and prayers are with you always.

I was out of bed at 6am on September11. I came downstairs and turned on the TV and thought I was watching some ending to a movie that was on. I received a phone call from my brother who told me to turn the TV on .....the WTC had been wiped out. I told him I was watching the TV and said that it wasnt possible. I sat there and watched and I couldnt comprehend what was going on. Who did this??? What were they thinking? i stayed glued to the Tv for a week and hung onto every little update. I just couldnt understand why this happened. So many lives lost. So many left behind to pick up the pieces. I was devastated. All I wanted to do was help in anyway I could. I was in Australia and I felt powerless. It really shook the world and 12 months on, I am still moved to tears watching the tributes and memorials going on around the world. I am still trying to comprehend how someone could carry out such a horrendous crime. You must stand proud America and just remember...LOVE CONQUERS ALL. You are strong and you will get through it.
