That morning I was at work getting ready to go into a meeting. Someone said a plane had just crashed into one of the World Trade Center buildings. While I was concerned about the lives of the people in the building, like everyone else, I thought somebody really screwed up. We turned on the televisions to watch the horror. Being the wife of a retired Marine, the one thing that I did think about was the fact that my husband always said that one day, when we'd least expect it, something would happen here. Other countries live with this kind of terror every day and the American people don't have a clue of what it's like because nothing bad ever happens here. He always said we (the United States) wouldn't be ready for it. Just this one time, I wish he would have been wrong.

On September 11, 2001 I was getting ready for work. I normally don't watch the news in the morning but for some reason I turned the t.v. on that morning. I was working the 10am-8pm shift at the Castle Rock Police Department in Colorado as a Police dispatcher. I imediatly called my loved ones to make sure everyone was ok. That day at work the only people that called were family, friends, and fellow co-workers. When I think back to that day it is like a total blur and in slow motion like on movies. We spent the day in front of the television watching the devistation and a lot of us cried. Only one of our officers got called to duty and after a year is still not back yet. Our Victim Advocate went to to Ground Zero to help out the family's affected by 9-11. I know this story doesn't even compair to most, but I wanted to share and let the family's know that they are in our thoughts and prayers here at the Castle Rock Police Department.

I was at the computer when my sister called. She said "Turn on the TV". I told her I would in a second - I was sending a time-sensative online registration for my boyfriend who was in Lucerne at the time. My sister called back and sounded so urgent that I immediately switched on the television and could not believe my eyes. We stayed on the phone with each other, becoming progressively more alarmed as each crash occurred. I heard that buildings downtown were being evacuated so I piled our two violins in the car and drove to the freeway. The roads were jammed and I was petrified a plane would hit right where I was wedged in traffic. Finally I reached my sister's house in the suburbs. She ran out of the house as I pulled up and we hugged in the driveway. I was incredibly worried about my boyfriend flying back home. It was terrible to be apart at such a time. I cried every day until about mid-December. Now it is a year later and my boyfriend (now husband) is in Lucerne again. Watching the replays on TV, it feels like one excruciatingly long day.

*On that terrible day.......
I was at work doing exactly what I am doing now, working on a computer..a colleague came into our office and informed us that a plane had just hit one of the World Trade Centers, immediately I looked up CNN and Fox News on the internet and watched as the whole event unfolded. I am a Firefighter myself over here in England and I must say "Our Thoughts Are With You" I have family in America so I know how much it really affected everybody. "*God Be With You All*". --Sept. 11, 2001...
At first, I wasn't really aware of the attack of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. It was about 6:45 in the morning when I got up and got ready for school. The t.v was on in the living room as I started eating my breakfast. My grandma always had watched news in the morning. I was kinda busy eating when watching the news hearing something about planes being hijacked and crashed. At first, I thought it's the Muslims getting problems with other people from Israel. Actually, there are a lot of problems in the Middle East to be exact.
Anyway...I just finished eating when I noticed the familiar Pentagon. I was wondering what happened to it. Then I saw two planes crashing into these towers. At first, I didn't recognize the towers right away since i've only visited New York once and that was about 6 years ago and I'm all the way in Hawaii. Then I finally recognized it was the World Trade Center. It was realy scary on how the plane crashed into the twin towers causing it to collapse. The people running made it seemed like Godzilla the Sequel. Only thing is, this is reality. When I came home, I spent most of the day watching the horrible scenses over and over again of the planes crashing into the Trade Towers. My mom heard about it way earlier as she had woke up in about 3 in the morning (9 in New York Time).
God bless those who lost their lives and for those who had lost your loved ones. May you always be in America's prayers...
