i was sitting in health class, my mom walked in the door to give me a check for my SATs. She told my teacher to turn on the tv. Then she left. It was horrible, i sent my friend at another school nearby a text message on my cell phone. I said "The world trade center! It's under attack!" before i knew it i was being forced to send the message "The pentagon!" he was frantic, his class recieved all their information from me throughout class. I knew that my friend went to school in NYC. I was horrified. All day i was scared out of my mind. I came home, shaken, and sat at my computer. My friend was online, i was so glad to hear he was ok. My cousin relayed the news that she was in a helicopter in NYC, near where it all happened, as it happened. She works for the news there. She was horrified as well. I was talking to my friend in NYC when a plane flew over my house. I freaked out... all planes were to be grounded!then there was a loud BOOM and my house shook... i live right by the nations largest air force base. i started to cry. the tv said that a plane had crashed into the VA! I was so scared. Later they said that there was a brush fire near the VA and the plane was a gov't plane and there had been a sonic boom... they put the two together and had come up with the VA story. I was so mad. my city was the one place in america that a plane SHOULD have been flying and no one told me... grrr...
i will never, ever, forget, however, where i was when i heard Bush's speech. I was in the kitchen at work, staring at the old broken down radio with the missing face. I was drying dishes. I put them down and just stood there with streams of tears across my cheeks as my boyfriend held me closely and told me everything would be alright. the day has scarred us all forever... nothing will be the same anymore from here on out. this is no longer the america we knew and loved...

I had an 8am math class here at Texas Tech . I was sleeping through it as I usually did on Tuesdays. The phone rang. It was my mom, it was too early so i just let it ring. The tone in her voice on the answering machine shook me awake and made me hurdle accross the room to the phone. I decided to call her back but first I turned on my TV. It was all suddenly soo clear, but at the same time soo confusing. One plane one tower. An accident how horrible. But then the second plane took away any doubt, excuse or shred of the worl I went to sleep in. What do I do? So far away but it kicked in my fight or flight mentality. What do I do? A list of my loved ones ran through my head. Where is everyone? Are they ok? Not fully grasping everything I got dressed, put on shoes and for the first time in 3 years left my dorm room without my contacts in. In class they told us both towers had fallen. I cant recall what we did that class, except cry. and wonder and stare into space. At the student center I saw a friend crowded into the theater watching CNN on a Movie screen. We just held each other, cried and flinched as they replayed the video. No more No more No more. But how could we look away. The doubt that it actually happened is still here. The scarieness of flying is stillvery much with me. And all of my plans are being rearranged. Im sorry for thoose who didnt know life before this, I promise to do all I can to not let this ever happen again, but also to never let this be forgotten.

The weekend before. Nick Albanese, a Saint Rose sophomore had a heart attack sitting at his computer. The wake was Tuesday morning and a lot of students were there when the towers were hit. I really didn't know him so I wasn't.
10:00am, I got up and took a shower, half asleep like every other morning. When I got out of the shower I saw that I has a voice mail. Conti, "Yo, I'm hungry, wanna get lunch?" So I call him back, still in my bath robe.
"Are you watching this?"
"What?"
"Turn on the tv."
"What channel?"
"Any channel."
I turn on the television, expecting to see something crazy, maybe even funny. NYC engulfed in smoke, the pentagon in flames. "Holy shit." That's about all I could say that day. I got ready, eyes glued to the tv the whole time. Now I have to go to class.
Halfway there I think, Jana. This is a recent ex-friend of mine who has an apartment in the village. I get to class and the tv is on, I'm hypnotized again, until the teacher comes in and turns it off. The teacher and some of the class had a discussion about what happen, why it happen, I just tuned it out. At least I didn't have to learn global history. Class dismissed.
I walk over to the campus center and think about using the phone, huge line. There are a bunch of people in the commuters lounge watching a big screen tv. I walk outside to smoke a cigarette, I smoked a lot of cigarettes that day. I hear "Classes canceled for the day." Book it back to Bru.
I sit in my room, tv on constantly of course, and I'm on the phone for hours. I called Mike about 20 times to see if he knew where Jana was. I called Kaitlyn in New Jersey, and Conti here at school. I talked to Nathan and Matt on-line. I talked to a lot of people that day. I just wanted us all to be back in Kingston, all together. I have to get away.
Taking caution not to go downtown, I go to McDonald's with Conti to get something to eat. Comfort food. I finally get a page from Mike. He seems normal.
"Have you talked to Jana?"
"Yeah"
"Today?"
"Yeah, she's on her way home"
Relief.
Everyone I know is ok, but I know by at least the 5th degree I know someone who died. I went to a candlelight vigil at SUNY, wanted to go to mass but I never got around to it. Classes were canceled the next day too. As the week went on, things seemingly go back to normal. Seemingly.

On the moment it happened I was in a Personal Management class. My teach had gotten a phone call on her cell. She answered it in the middle of the glass and all we heard was 'Oh my God!' as she covered her mouth. She immediatley hung up and announced to the class that two planes just crashed into the world trade towers. stunned.

I have insomnia because my mother died just four months ago. So I was awake watching Fox and Friends on Fox News network. They had just went to commercial from interviewing Rob Thomas' wife. They came back and they were like a plane hit the trade tower. At that time they were like a pilot probably fell asleep because its too pretty for him to not see them. Then this woman called in and she was tellin what she saw from her building.I was like whats that, and then the second plane hit.It happened so fast I had no idea that was a plane. My story isn't to interesting, but I was wide awake watching it all happen live via television.
