I am a senior in high school. On September11,2001, I was in parenting and thought it was all a joke. Then afterwards I went to my J.R.O.T.C class and found out it was all true. Imediatley I busted into tears. All I could think was

I remember that day distinctly...everything about it. I was sitting in 1st period (government class) and we were watching a video on the Declaration of Independence, as ironic as that is. Our high school's chemistry teacher ran into the room and whispered something in our government teacher's ear. A look of disbelief spread over his face and he yelled "STOP THE TAPE AND TURN IT TO CNN!"
One of my classmates followed his demand, and for the first time I saw the World Trade Center towers billowing with smoke from the fires burning inside them after the airplanes struck. I remember our normally rowdy and rambunctious class sitting in silence and watching with fear in our eyes and our hearts. As we continued to watch, I saw little spots falling from the heights of each tower. At first I had no idea what what these were...until the cameras zoomed in. Those little "spots" turned out to be people jumping from the building to escape from the fire before the towers collapsed. This image has haunted me ever since and it filled me with a sense of anger as well as grief...I had never felt like that before and I would never wish that feeling on anyone.
The rest of the school day was spent largely on watching the news on TV and wondering what would happen next. By the end of the day, we all expected the worst. For the first time ever in my life, I was afraid to go to sleep at night because I wasn't sure if I would wake up the next morning.
On the first anniversary of this horrific tragedy, let's all remember to keep our loved ones close and to be grateful for each and every blessing the Lord has provided us. Remember to live each day like your last, someday you'll be right.

I'll never forget where I was on 9-11-01. I was at home in Kentucky. I had been doing laundry all morning and was about to take a break and watch Judge Judy. When I turned on the t.v. all I saw was news about the planes that hit the Twin Towers. I thought that it was just a freek accident. I couln't believe this was happening to us! I've seen this kind of stuff happen oversea's. But now we were the target. I mostly felt scared all day and numb. I didn't know what to do. I was thinking that this is the end of the world.
After I watched the news about an hour, I went to my moms house where we watched the tv together. As soon as my sisters came home from school, they said, "did you see what happened in New York?" I couldn't believe that the teachers let them see it on the t.v. but everyone has different views of that. We still talk about it all the time. We are beginning a scrapbook about 9-11. It's a good way to begin the healing process and it's lets my younger sisters find out more and learn why it happened.
That's where I was.

That day seems like it was a week ago. I remember that during first period religion, I had to take the attendance to the office. I walked into the office, and the TV was on. I found this strange because the TV is never turned on at St. Xavier High. I initially thought the burning tower was footage from the bombing 10 years ago. Soon later, I pieced together what was happenning, just as soon as I had done that, another plane came swooping into the screen. I thought "Oh, no!",and my worst fear was realized. I ran back to class and tuned the TV to NBC on channel 2, my teacher began to scold me, then she saw the screen and cried. As the day unfolded, everything was in slow motion, all we did was watch the coverage. Since that day, anything that is remotely related to 9-11 brings thoughts only to that, and I feel deep sadness. That feeling keeps recurring.
My Dad was supposed to be in the towers that morning, but he missed his flight early on 9-11 morning. I thank God every day for my Dad's tardiness.
